SAP Enterprise Architect

David Smith

Keeping the core clean while the business moves fast.

I work with architecture teams and steering committees on SAP-centric transformation — clean core, SAP BTP, integration architecture, and the RISE journey — turning strategy into designs that hold up under delivery.

About

Enterprise architecture, in practice

Most SAP programs don't fail on technology — they fail on the gap between a slide-deck target state and something a delivery team can actually build. My work sits in that gap: pinning down the guardrails (what stays standard, what extends on BTP, how systems talk), sequencing the change by business risk, and keeping the digital core clean so the next upgrade isn't a project. Increasingly, that means working with clients navigating the move to the Autonomous Enterprise — where AI and agents act on clean, well-governed processes and data — without losing control of the core.

I write and record as I go. The channel is the same material — the decisions, the trade-offs, and the reasoning behind them — without the deck.
